I'm happy to see the return of the Medjugorje forum after being offline for a while. It allows me to comment on Bluecross's reports on his site that restrictions have been placed by 'the authorities' on the broadcasting of videos of Mirjana's monthly apparitions. https://www.themedjugorjewitness.org/notices Sister Emmanuel seemed to be the first to report this new restriction in this quote from her May newsletter:

  • Now, as is the case for all websites associated with Medjugorje, we will no longer be able to publish the link to Mirjana’s apparition, because this has been requested by the authorities.

Now my basic question is, who are these 'authorities'? If the request has come from Archbishop Hoser then I will relax a bit but I do find it a little 'suspicious' that just as Pope Francis removed the restrictions on official pilgrimages to Medjugorje, this new restriction should be put in place.
#231629
I’m presuming it was the parish authorities who were possibly notified by the Papal Nuncio for Bosnia Hercegovina (not Henryk Hoser), and it’s part of the deal that came with the Vatican’s approval on pilgrimages. So perhaps it is the parish priest who has spoken to the media channels based in Medjugorje, requesting their co-operation.

Did Sr Emmanuel send out the message given by Mirjana yesterday? She usually emails to her list of subscribers on the same day.
#231630
I'm not on Sister Emmanuel's mailing list but I see no reason why she wouldn't send out yesterday's message from Mirjana.

Although MaryTV did not provide their normal full video of yesterday's apparition, I'm pleased to see that Sean's Stella Mar YouTube channel has a good 4 minute video excerpt from the apparition at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYbqpojzwl0

I remain unhappy about the secrecy involved in this new restriction. It should be stated who has decided on the restriction and of precisely what the restriction is supposed to consist.
#231631
I’m curious as to where the directive came from, but not surprised.

Neither do I feel it was coincidence that the directive kicked in on World Communications Day. There was a point being made there.

Of course, not everyone will co-operate with the directive, especially when it wasn’t seemingly announced outside the confines of Medjugorje.

I suppose the restriction invites all of us to ask why.

bluecross wrote:I suppose the restriction invites all of us to ask why.
It would appear to be a logical move. The restriction seems to be aimed at Francis desire to minimize Mary's importance to Medjugorje.

We know that he has said "These supposed apparitions don’t have much value", and from that we can see that he would like to re-cast the image of Medjugorje and open up it's identity as a general place of prayer and holiness where one's faith gets rekindled and graces are received, rather than a specific place where the Mother of God is calling mankind to return to her Son.

The restriction seems to be aimed at Francis desire to minimize Mary's importance to Medjugorje.
Or did you mean, to the world? So why did Pope Francis recently approve pilgrimages to Medjugorje at diocean level?

Mary’s call is the same as made by all the prophets: “Make a straight way for the Lord.” The same call is made by the priest (prophets) at the end of every Mass:

1. Go and announce the Gospel of the Lord.

Little children, joyfully live the messages of the Gospel, which I am repeating in the time since I am with you. (25.12.96)

2. Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life.

I do not desire your life to pass by in words but that you glorify God with deeds. (25.04.91)

3. Go in Peace, (to love and serve the Lord).

I call you to live according to my Son – to spread his peace and his love… (02.12.2012)

I have asked certain people who would be hindered by this and nobody knows anything about it.

Its pretty much fake news and BC should stop reporting this becasue it is being picked up by FACEbook pagers etc. until there is confirmation about this. There is no soure and God Bless Sr. Emmauel but she is not a "source"
#231638
Well, judging by the response from other certain people, it doesn’t seem to be fake news.

MaryTV didn’t show its normal coverage of Mirjana’s Apparition on June 2 and published this notice on its page devoted to live streaming from the Blue Cross:

Please pray we are able to continue Live Streaming from the Blue Cross in Medjugorje.  The faithful’s prayer at the Blue Cross is giving a powerful example and “witness of [Her] presence to all those who are far away”
Digital Foto Video Studio Đani, probably the closest source to Mirjana and based in Medjugorje, has covered Mirjana’s apparitions for several years. It also didn’t publish its normal service for the June event – no stills, no video.

Sr Emmanuel, also based in Medjugorje, IS a source, and has been almost from the time the Medjugorje phenomenon began.

So we now have more than one source than Sr Emmanuel – no show from MaryTV and no show from PhotoĐani.

Ironic that Steve wants me to stop reporting what he considers fake news, when the ‘authorities’ have made a similar request to media outfits to limit their normal coverage of Mirjana. There’s no restriction on distributing and broadcasting Mirjana’s message. But you won’t find the message on the parish website, unlike the message given by Marija on the 25th of each month. It does publish any message given to Mirjana on March 18.

I like the forum’s new format. :)

Sean Bloomfoield posted a video. your post here confirms you have no source... No links just hearsay.. I don't know why you are promoting this until the facts are in. Please provide some links to this
#231640
But Sean was not the source. He operates a system that automatically uploads videos from YouTube to his website. Any film footage seen from Saturday’s was not from regular sources but likely from pilgrims and their mobile phones.

The following items may also interest you and may help you understand why the recent restriction has been put in place concerening MIrjana’s public witness of the apparitions.

On Friday, July 10, 2015, when the visionary Marija was in Padva, Italy, she announced that she had received a letter in which she was asked not to participate in public meetings. She did not specify who sent the letter.

The following item was published in Sr Emmanuel’s newsletter for September 2015.

A Few Welcome Restrictions in Medjugorje

Recently, we noticed that a few changes have taken place in Medjugorje: Marija no longer opens the Magnificat Center for her daily apparition. Ivan and Jakov still go to the Rotonda in the afternoon with Father Marinko to pray with the pilgrims, but without giving the messages. The Information Center no longer releases the message received on the 2nd of the month by Mirjana as it did previously. This Summer Ivan did not invite the pilgrims to participate in the apparition at night on the mountain with his prayer group, etc.
#231641
you are offering a link that goes back to 2015? . What is the point of that. That is old news.... You are really sowing confusion.

Everything you say is unsourced ... This is all really irresponsible in light of the great news from Pope Francis authorizing official pilgrimages. Quite honestly I have no idea what you are talking about nor does anybody else who is actually in the business of creating videos
#231642
The video of Mirjana's latest apparition on YouTube that I posted earlier is not from 'pilgrims mobile phones' but is a highly professional group named 'Stella Mar films' which I thought was Sean's film unit. The link again is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYbqpojzwl0

While I support BC's reporting of the latest 'development' I think his repeating, above, problems from 2015 is not helpful. We know all about the opposition from elements in the Vatican but the important thing is the position of Pope Francis. I copy here what he told Chiara Amirante earlier this year:
  • 'Chiara, look, it is I who saved Medjugorje, because the Commission of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, on the basis of so much false news, had already said that Medjugorje is all false. So I saved Medjugorje myself, it is I who have Medjugorje at heart, it is I who sent Hoser because I believe, what I also said at the press conference, that the fruits are many and are unequivocal' .
Sadly, despite the Pope's current position, the enemies of Medjugorje within the Vatican will not give up.
#231643
Just presenting the facts, Steve, old or new, whether you like them or not.

These facts do not deter from the Pope’s recent announcement.

The clampdown on the visionaries began in October 2013 when the Apostolic Nuncio informed the U.S. Bishops Conference that “the clerics and the faithful are not permitted to participate in meetings, conferences or public celebrations during which the credibility of such ‘apparitions’ would be taken for granted.”

That brought an end to Ivan’s public apparitions in the U.S.

While the apparitions are still under investigation, the same yardstick is being applied at Medjugorje. However, Pope Francis recognises the fruits of Medjugorje and does not want to discourage pilgrims from going there, while the phenomenon is still being investigated – hence the recent announcement re ‘official’ pilgrimages organised at diocesan level.

It’s the only significant approval given by the Vatican so far – nothing else, not even the first seven days of the apparitions as many believe. That was only a recommendation by the investigating commission. It has still to be signed off by Pope Francis.

The video of Mirjana's latest apparition on YouTube that I posted earlier is not from 'pilgrims mobile phones' but is a highly professional group named 'Stella Mar films' which I thought was Sean's film unit.
I hadn’t see that, John, but it won’t do Mirjana’s cause much good. Neither will it go down well with the lkes of MaryTV and PhotoDani, two regular sources for filming Mirjana’s apparitions who will be asking why Stella Mar films can set aside instructions from the parish authorities in this way. A testing time for all.

I repeated the information from 2015 so the recent restriction regarding MIrjana could be seen in the light of other restrictions placed on the visionaries.

There may be preceived enemies in the Vatican as there are at all levels of society, but the restrictions are not surprising. When the Vatican moves in and takes over (which I suspect Medjugorje supporters were very happy about and remember that Henryk Hoser was welcomed with open arms), there are set rules and guidelines to adhere to when it comes to investigating private revelation and apparitions.

What may have been forgotten by many people is that this is not the first time restrictions have been placed on Mirjana. She used to receive her apparitions at the Cenacolo Community in Medjugorje. However, in October 2009, when the Community became an International Association of the Faithful of Pontifical Right in the Roman Catholic Church, Mirjana was informed by the local bishop that the Community’s new status meant she was no longer allowed to participate in the prayer meeting that would give credibility to the apparitions still under investigation – so she moved to the Blue Cross.
#231645
there are no new restriction. This is fake news invented by you. Totally irresponsible I dont understand why you are doing this. Everything you said is old news. Nobody is misinformed that the apparitions have not been approved.

You are saying nothing new. ANd as always you have no sources, links confirmations This entire thread should be deleted and whoever is the administrator should take note. this conversation is nonsense and I am finished with it.
#231646
Without wishing to prolong a discussion on this topic too much I think we could summarize the current 'new' situation regarding Mirjana's apparitions.

1. Sister Emmanuel stated in her May newsletter:
  • Now, as is the case for all websites associated with Medjugorje, we will no longer be able to publish the link to Mirjana’s apparition, because this has been requested by the authorities
2. MaryTV has failed to add the video of Mirjana's apparition of June 2nd to their video archive.

3. Neither Sister Emmanuel nor Denis Nolan of MaryTV have explained who contacted them to make them carry out the above two actions.

For me, this secrecy is very worrying. I believe any 'directives' are likely to have come from people who are actually negative about Medjugorje but who pretend to be acting "in prudence".
#231647
Denis Nolen knows of no restrictions and regarding Sr. Emmanuel has anybody contacted her for clarification.? It is irresponsible to continue this so far made up story. Has it occurred to anybody that Sr. Emmanuel is of a religious order and therefore she would be restricted in publishing videos of the apparitions on her site. That would not be a "new restriction"

Nothing "new" in any way has been confirmed... BC has made this whole thing up and he owes the Medjugorje community some kind of journalistic effort to get a comment from St. Emmanuel. I contacted Mary TV .. Did Blue Cross make that effort? Dear administrator, please delete this fake news story until there is confirmation from somebody other than BC and the "internet"

If that is the case, why has he not posted the video of the June 2nd apparition?

Regarding Sister Emmanuel, clearly someone should ask her why she wrote what she wrote. But to block BC or anyone else reporting what she said seems a bit silly to me.

So where is this information coming from? I checked the parish website and couldn't find anything about this at all. As for MaryTV, I thought they were stopped from doing live broadcasts of Miranja's apparitions quite a while ago.

This low profile effort to is to take the spotlight off the visionaries and their apparitions. Up until now, the attention that has been given to this has allowed various media outlets to write negative and questionable things, such as the visionaries want to be celebrities and that’s why they allow filming of apparitions.

This is a subtle attempt to shift the focus away from the apparitions and Mary's messages.

By any means:
The prohibition is real.
Institutions will enforce the
prohibitions when they become
more important and start to formalize
their businesses. Probably those institutions
will be externally forced to do so by the exertion of
some kind of pressure from outside. Pressure from external
organizations they rely on financially or will otherwise compromise
their growth. In reality when someone starts to enforce a formal prohibition
because of pressure, it proofs that they shift to another phase of their existence
from a kind of rebellious follow your heart thing, to a more formal growth inclined
entity where business type decisions must be made on a daily basis. And that may mean
to dump your very origin end reason of existence.

I want to tell ye the following:
If you prohibit a child something,
it may be for its own good.
Remember Maria being worried
finding Jesus back in the temple.
Why you treat us like this. Mary
says. After that Jesus was obedient.

But.
Whenever you prohibit a mature
well thinking adult to do or
say something. It is slander,
legal blackmail, manipulation
or whatever you want to call it.

So I would say to those institutions who stop following their hearts
for the sake of this world as Jesus says in Revelation 2:
Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.
Remember therefore from where you have fallen;
repent and do the first works.
Else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place
Unless you repent.

We must not mingle things as it seems that
the term rock star had been used
several times. And that could be
coincidence, however:
BBC news.
The six children who saw the Virgin are now middle-aged. They have rock star status among the pilgrims. When they speak to the masses assembled here, pilgrims listen in on little headsets that provide simultaneous translation in a dozen or more languages. When they leave the stage, they are mobbed by the faithful.
The next or previous phrase will always include Ivan.
Ivan Dragicevic was 16 at the time of the first appa.......... etc
It is easy to be tempted to perceive the source.
Speculation though.

Is it???

I would like to come back on this topic as I'm beginning to see what caused 'ministryvalues' to be so annoyed at this thread. I think the problem is down to the title I gave the thread!

I think it would have been better and more accurate if I had titled it, "Apparent restrictions on the use of videos of Mirjana's apparitions".

It is becoming clearer that filming of the June 2nd apparition took place as normal, although it is possible that MaryTVs cameraman (if they use one) was not present. Apart from the video produced by Sean's film group that I linked to earlier, I found a separate, professionally produced video of the full apparition on YouTube.

It seems to me that 'someone' with links to MaryTV and Sister Emmanuel has 'advised' them not to distribute new video material of Mirjana. I think that MaryTV is reliant on a great deal of outside financial support to cover its ever increasing facilities and I suspect they have felt they had no choice but to accede to the request.

I realise that I'm speculating here but when things are done 'secretly', speculation becomes inevitable.
