My wife and I were wondering about Catholic funerals. It's the purpose of a funeral to help the person that has died to get to heaven and Catholics do that very well. What sometimes seems to be missing though is the celebration of the persons life and the need for the people left behind to mourn and come to terms with the death. I thought it would have been part of pastoral care of the Church to celebrate the life of the deceased and assist with the grieving process. A few years ago we had a wonderful preist die and there was nothing of the wonderful person he was celebated. He probably wanted it that way, but I was just wondering why.
