Just one year ago, I was a regular Catholic, going to the Holy Mass ,praying, even go to a monastery twice a year for a couple of days. But that was all.Just business as usual.
One day I was going to the nearest medical practice, feeling me sick, nothing special, the first time in about 30 years that I have needed a doctor!, yeah : I think I am mister healthy himself ! :) . A lady doctor give me a checkup, and take the phone, calling a specialist and ask him to see me now ?.what’s happening here?: she asks me : can you drive ? sure , why ? go to the clinic right now , you need urgent surgery now, hurry !Are you kidding me miss ? :?: NO !! you are in danger, you are going to die !! I was thinking : crazy girl : I stand on my feet’s and I am in danger?:bad joke!.
But I drive to the clinic and the next 1/2 hour it looks to me I have coming into the ER soap on TV, nurse’s en doctors all over the place in white and green : horror full ! the nurse’s ( four !) put me in a bed and run with me to the surgery room, the visiting hours just take place, visitors stand beside to let us passing:probally thinking: so young, the poor men !.I shake over my whole body with fever: to make a long story short:after tree hours later I wake up , and the specialist tells me ; that was close!,we have you on the life support for a couple of hours.
Back on my chamber I was angry at myself: I always saying , when my time is coming : I will asking for a priest and now I am not even saying a prayer for myself!. Wath a catholic am I ? just words but no action .At home a friend came to visit me and I give him the full story, he smile and say : I know you, are you sure you don’t say a prayer ?.He tells me: I have seen several people taking into the surgery room (he’s a medic): the blood pressure go into the roof, and the heart the same way, from fear indeed.
At that time it hit me with full power: before the doctors put me into sleep for the operation:I pray to the Lord:have mercy on me, forgive me my sins,I even think on Medjugorje!. I remember that the nurses are saying to me: you have no fear and don’t need the tranquilizers, strange? My friend says to me, you have put your life into the hands of the Lord and indeed that’s it!
I have learned a big lesson: next hour can be your last !,be ready ! Now I take the time for praying with my heart , everything else can wait when I feel the need to pray and it give me peace, every time when I am praying I feel Him close to me.I am back on the right way!

Wonderful story! It's so hard to trust Jesus but we need to struggle to do so through our lives and perhaps one day we truly will. This is an exellent example of how we must. God bless you and welcome to the forum! :D

Thank you Prayer...a beautiful example of faith in God. God doesn't need you to say certain words at the hour of your death...if you have lived your life as a prayer it isn't necessary.

Very interesting story Prayer. Sort of sounds like when I found out that I had a blood-clot in my leg, nothing really mattered to me but God at that moment and begging for forgiveness for all my sins.

I found my old post back and see that it has read many times: so an update is in order: since that time I am now not only a priest but since 5 months I am in the UK consecrated as a bishop for Belgium.
